A 10-year-old gives birth – and she still is not the youngest mother ever.
The Columbian girl, whose name has not been released, gave birth to a healthy five pound girl via caesarian section.

The age of the father is still unknown.

In an ABC article, Dr. Kimberly Gecsi, an OB/GYN at UH Case Medical Center in Cleveland said having a 10-year-old giving birth can be dangerous, especially if caesarian section is not used.

“The baby’s head needs to come through a bony outlet. But in a young girl, the pelvis may not be ready or big enough to deliver a baby,” she said.

The 10-year-old who gave birth is a member of the Wayuu tribe; an official said births at this age are not entirely uncommon.

Hearing 10-year-old giving birth may seem uncommon, but the youngest mother ever was Lina Midina from Peru, who gave birth at age 5.
