Jessica Simpson nude and pregnant on Elle cover channels Demi Moore’s iconic Vanity Fair portrait

Jessica Simpson has joined the long line of pregnant celebrities baring all on magazine covers.

Demi Moore did it first — and some say best — when she graced the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991, when she was seven months pregnant with middle daughter Scout.

Britney Spears also did the same for Harper’s Bazaar in 2006, and Christina Aguilera followed suit on the cover of Marie Claire two years later.

Simpson channels Moore on the April cover of Elle magazine, duplicating the actress’ pose with one hand covering her breasts and the other hand cradling her burgeoning belly. Posing in front of a simple gray background, Simpson wears nothing but a sultry stare and a yellow sapphire ring on her middle finger — just like the “St. Elmo’s Fire” star did.

While the response to Moore’s cover was overwhelming at the time, the actress said it almost never happened.

"The shot that ended up being on the cover wasn't even done for the magazine," Moore, now 49, told V magazine in 2008. "The (photographer) Annie (Leibovitz) called, we kind of joked, and I said it would be amazing if they would do this on the cover."

Simpson seems to be equally impressed with her own pregnancy portrait.

“I'm a lil nervous but I've never felt more beautiful or empowered,” she tweeted Wednesday about the photo’s public debut.

This will be Simpson’s first child and while she’s expecting a girl, the 31-year-old “Fashion Star” mentor says she’s worried fiancé Eric Johnson’s football player genes will dominate.

"I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!" she told the magazine.

"Eric is so athletic - we're gonna have this athletic girl and I won't even be able to take her shopping, 'cause all she's gonna want is sports bras and Nikes!”
