The answer? Far, far less than what he used to earn as a singer.
On May 8, in Gyeonggi-do’s Euijeongbu 306, Rain took part in the ‘2012 Military Newly Recruit Welcoming Festival’ to help usher in the new army draftees.
During a Q&A session, one new recruit boldly asked the singer, “How much is your fortune worth?” to which Rain responded, “I’m sorry, but I’d like to ask that you only ask questions related to the military.”
To this, the event’s MC, comedian Lee Jin Ho, said, “I believe Rain earns 80,000 Won (about 70 U.S. dollars) a month.”
Regarding the standard military pay Rain then told the new draftees, “Actually there’s not a lot of places to use that money. You’ll probably use it a lot at the PX (Post Exchange- the army’s supply store).”
Rain also shared on his current thoughts saying, “It’s been exactly eight months since I entered [my service] here and my heart feels anew.”
The ‘Military Newly Recruit Welcoming Festival’ is an event done by the Korean government to help welcome new draftees and to express thanks to their families.
